Might we have a way to reload components during the game?

It's going to be super tough to work on balance issues having to start a new game & build up to a certain point to test a given set of systems. Like not-feasible.
Can we have an option in an .ini file or something? to set to say "force reload xml files even if when loading a save game?"

This is how many times I restarted this weekend.
I didn't do a whole lot of work either, just a couple of hours.

Um ... If memory serves me: use the pipe key '|'. But that may be limited to visuals such as the Galaxy background.

Don't know exactly what you mean, but since we're no longer forced to use new games (/ can use saves, now) this shouldn't be an issue anymore.

I meant to answer how to load in the meta data from the XML files while in game; you could make tweaks and see the results immediately.
Are you referring to
"- now support overriding loaded data items by Id value for all XML file types (Races, Research Project Definitions, Ship Hulls, Troop Definitions, etc)" of the release notes for 1.0.7.9?

Yes - finally it's possible.

This would be even better, of course

- but I don't see how this could be possible (at least not without the proper use of Harmony)

Stellaris had a console command to do this in 2017 or 2018.
