Suggestion for Troop Automation

First:
if you go into Policy Settings and than Troops please change the Options from low/normal/high/very high to nothing/low/normal/high/very high since you want to automate Troop recruitment but even with low/low for Garrison and Attack Troops the AI will spam over time all Worlds with Troops that kill your income.

You want let the AI build Garrions but at same time absolutly no attack Troops so we need a nothing option extra.

Second:
change the System from such low/normal etc to Numbers.
So for Garrions you can set: 1 Infantry till 100 Million Population, 2 till 500 Mio and so on. It would be great if you could set self the Numbers.

This way you can use automation without crashing your economy as it is now

Also a issue with Spies. If they got catch and you pay ransom they always come back as double agents so there is zero point in ransom them back, you have to dismiss them anyway.

Afaik, attack troops are only built if transports are based on the planet. And only enough to fill the transports.

If this is true (is it?) - that's insane. That's not a lucid way to design things. Fleets are reassigned regularly, and need to grab troops from worlds that are specialized and equipped to train them - not from "whatever" or some base of operations that is useful for a time in a given war.

How would that be "insane"?

It makes the most sense to build troops close to the transports that need to move them, rather then the other end of the empire, 5 years away at full hyperdrive speed.
Also I usually based them at planets designed to fill them, so there is not exactly a "issue" as you seem to see it.

Because I want to design my empire to have a cluster of worlds near my core (usually capital + near neighbors) that have all of the facilities for building the best troops - then I want my transports to pull from there.

Drives me nuts to have the automation build troops willy-nilly all over my empire destroying my economy -
Drives me nuts to have the automation whine that it wants to build hyper-redundant troop-related facilities at every freaking world driving my econ into the toilet (and you can guarantee that the AI is stoooopidly doing this ruining its own econ as well).

It's not a smart strat.

If you want to designate a world near your front to become a nexus for troop building - that would make a ton of sense.

But YOU should be able to make that call - and control which worlds are those kind of worlds - not "dupe everything everywhere and randomly build too much and ruin the economy" -- that's just not a winning strat.

A lot of the pain goes away if you turn off Troop automation at the policy level. You may still need to go into each existing colony and turn it off there as well. See also Facility management. And most other things. Automation bad. grr.

FWIW I like your idea. And yeah, the enemy AI doesn't stand a chance against a player that's turned off most of the automation.
