...would be to not have fleets / ships drop out of FTL if the assignment you're making doesn't change the destination at all.
e.g. - Fleet is moving to a shipyard to refuel - and I hit "refit at [same shipyard]". Fleet drops out of FTL, then jumps again to same target.
I see this often - various scenarios where I'm telling them "yeah, there, but change the order slightly" and they first drop FTL to waste precious time (I'm usually updating the order to defend the target instead of refuel there, or refuel in addition to guarding there, etc).
Even if the new target is in the same system - it shouldn't drop FTL just for that. Go ahead and get to the system - then worry about either flying or jumping to the ultimate destination.
Maybe things will change "on the ground" before you get there - and you'll ultimately have another target there - but that's one less wasted drop, wait for cycle, go again...
