Population distribution logic?

The game seems to take delight in sending people to hellish environments regularly... why?

I colonize a marsh with only Slukken - perfect. It's +5 for Ackdarian, +15 for Slukken.
A few years later, I revisit - and it's now got a bunch of Ackdarians there. Millions (small compared to Slukken, but not insignificant). Why? What the hell are all of those ocean lovers doing on a relatively inhospitable swamp?

And with deserts, ice worlds, infernos - I'll still see millions of Ackdarians rushing out for... reasons?

Not sure if it's some sort of realism feature where "in every population, there will be a minority who are thrill-seekers who just have to go where they clearly are going to suffer and struggle", or if the automation somehow thinks that it's true aim in the universe is to distribute every race to every habitat? lol - confusing.

NOTE: if this isn't slaughtering the upper limit to pop on the world I wouldn't worry about it. but my guess is that by having a mixed race(s) - it sets the max population based on all races - which in in the gutter compared to what it can support of a race who actually thrives there?

Maybe that's a better bug report: please allow well-adapted races to simply grow to the realistic maximum - actual number of other race population (rather than somehow creating a mean max pop for the world as a whole, assuming that's what's happening now - and the reason why my worlds rarely come close to their max limit [other than the capital]?)
