Problem Downloading PBEM Games

My gaming partner and I have been playing PBEM Warplan games for several months using the Slitherine Multiplayer System. A couple of weeks ago, we finished a game and tried to start a new game. While we have been able to create the new game, I am having problems downloading the game to my computer. I am able to successfully log on (connect) to the Multiplayer server and see my games. When I click on the check box icon to start my turn, I get a message screen saying that the game is downloading and to wait for the download. A message appears "Communicating with server" along with a progress (1939, 1940, 1941,..., 1945), but the game never successfully downloads. I get stuck on the download screen. I have tried waiting as long as five minutes without success. I was on travel for the past few week and thought that my laptop might be acting up. I returned home yesterday and my desktop computer has the same problem. I started a game, my opponent responded and then I had the problem described above. My opponent then tried starting a game, I accepted, he did his turn and then I had the problem described above. We are both patched to v1.00.162.

Any ideas of how I might fix this behavior? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Did you open a ticket to the Matrix / Slitherine support team?
https://www.matrixgames.com/contacts

The PBEM server is working on my side. Maybe something with your account or serial number.

Post the error log next time that happens.

C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\LocalLow\Kraken Studios\WarPlan\Player.log

If there are any errors it might be there.

Also make sure both players are on the same version.

Hi Alvaro,

Here is the message I see in that file when trying to start my current 1944 game. Note that both my PBEM partner and I are patched to the latest version of the game. We were also able to do a quick test and exchange 1943 scenario files using the file server. We earlier completed a 1944 game where I played the Allied side. We are having problems (on multiple tries) playing the 1944 game with me taking the Axis side.

Thanks for your help,

Wallace

That looks like a corrupt game on the server.

Give me the players and the game # so I can reset to the previous turn. These things happen once in a while.

I'm looking at this and something isn't right. There is only 1 game visible and usually there are several. I can put back an old one from the previous turn but it seems you have no previous one.

Is this a new game?

The current one is a new game. My partner did the Allied turn and I had the problem described trying to start my Axis side. We had tried this same game earlier in May. In that case we got through a couple of turns before the problem showed up. We have only had this problem for the 1944 scenario where I play the Axis side. Earlier we played the 1944 scenario to completion with me taking the Allied side. We were able to play the NA, Husky, 1943 (both sides part way) and are able to start the full game. If this is a problem (hassle) please just say so. We've agreed to move on to the full game if fixing this problem can be done.

Thanks,

Wallace

So it is only the 1944 scenario that does this?

I need to investigate this. Very odd as that scenario hasn't really been changed.

So far as I know, I only have problems when I play the Axis side of 1944. The first time I got stuck a couple of turns in. We tried again with a new 1944 game and I got stuck as the Axis player on the first turn. Like I mentioned, my PBEM partner and I were able to complete the 1944 scenario with me taking the Allied side. I can play either side against the AI. I am happy to test any other game "combinations" to try and help.

My game partner and I will move onto the full campaign, but I will check back to this thread from time to time to see if I can help.
