I've seen this in a couple scenarios, usually toward the end.

A mouse-over shows about 200 or so opposing infantry and assorted support elements. So I attack, usually around 6-8 to 1 odds. When it comes to combat, the opposing elements treble or quadruple to upwards of 7-800 (!) opposing infantry and support elements.

My losses are in-line with that kind of opposition. I get very big losses.

This tends to be at the end of the scenario, the beginning of the scenarios work fine.

I've uninstalled and l am re-installing, but am interested to see if this has happened elsewhere.

Sounds like you are attacking units you have relatively low recon points on. As combat commences and continues your troops increase their recon and become aware of the real enemy troop concentration.

Sounds like feature and not bug.
