Is there any chance to seek an auto win 1943 by invade WC in PBEM?

Has anyone tried it? any success?
After reading a thread about taking Portland. I am interested with the WC strategy. There are more then 36k VPs in those bases. I would think why dev team set it so high? what if you put most of your strength from the beginning day, took and keep them till enter 1943?
Alfred gave some info in that thread. There is quite a lot troops there, 1800 AV, another same amount coming in that month, and 2000+ more in 1942? plus emergency reinforcement, and you have to stop your opponent transport troops to WC. It is a real gamble.
