Shore bombardment levels

I have just realized with this battle that we don't see, in the battle report, any distinction in terms of level for shore bombardment.
Here is the situation. On the Allies side, all the Royal Navy, 2 CV, 1 CVL, several BB. On the Japanese side, 1 patrol group, yes 1 patrol group.
In the report, we are under the impression that the "Naval Bombardment" are equal for both sides.
Is it true? I can't believe this is true.
And, if not, would it be possible to add something to distinguish the levels? Like:
- Carrier Ground Support x1,5

Or something saying big guns are better than small ones like:
- Naval Bombardment (heavy)
- Naval Bombardment (medium)
- Naval Bombardment (small)

Really hard to distinguish that.

What is the factor involved in shore bombardment? Taking the Yamato as an example, does the Surface number of 12 taken into account for this calculation?

Yes, this is in the manual.
Surface value is involved in shore bombardment.

Thus, doing few calculations, of the
Surface values for all ships, I am finding this table:

For me, 4 BB + 1 CA + 1 DD is a big fleet. 1 BB + 1 CA + 2 DD an average and 1 CA + 2 DD a small one. But this is my own definition.
I would say that a simple way to implement:
- Naval Bombardment (small) if the addition of all Surface values of the fleet are < 25
- Naval Bombardment (medium) if the addition of all Surface values of the fleet are > 25 and < 50
- Naval Bombardment (heavy) if the addition of all Surface values of the fleet are > 50
Just an idea.

While we're on the subject, is the effect of shore bombardment linear with the number of bombarding ships? Or is there a point of diminishing returns?

Based upon my testing...and I could be incorrect...
Surface values appear to be 1/3 when shore bombarding.
And at best you can double your ground attack level.
When I test and attack force of say 6 str attack vs 2 in open terrain.
I see a 3 to 1 attack.
When I put 3 ships for shore bombardment that combine up to 18 surface the odds go 6 to 1.
When I add 3 more ships for a combined 36 or more surface the odds do not change or increase.
Again this is in my testing.

Thanks, so the small/medium/heavy criteria could still apply.

I may be wrong on this but it seems subs also contribute

Subs do contribute as do patrol ships...

Noted they shouldn't.

They are not in the report as doing shore bombardment but subs are indeed spending operation points like if they are doing it.

I validated Torpedo boats do say they provide naval assistance...
Sorry I just assumed the Subs did too and did not notice they do not.
Certainly should not lose op points since they don't.
Not only do they lose op points but they take an efficiency hit. That is a bigger issue in my eyes.
