they participate in ground combat but do not run AA fire during Ground Support Mission. It is interesting that the AA SU attached directly to the combat unit (like SP Flak companies) participate in ground combat and conduct AA fire similarly to AA guns organically related to the division oob .
I've seen a lot of these results because I'm playing h2h.
I suggest a simple test to find out:
1st turn Stalingrad to Berlin Scenario,
several attacks, soviet 65th army vs german XI Corps near Sirotinskaya. Corps HQ often launches mixed flak batt into battle. It is active in ground combat but does not run AA fire at all. I set the detail level to max (messege 7). there is no sign of anti-aircraft fire anywhere .

I prepared save files. But I forgot how to attach them, I know they won't pass as standard attachment. Maybe an e-mail?

I can duplicate this on turn 1 of C41. Yes, ideally the flak that gets committed would be able to shoot at the air units as if they had been attached to one of the ground units directly. Will bug it. Thanks for the report.
