All right, this is one is intriguing. Maybe I should post a bug report because I don't understand the root cause.
There are ghosts in the Pacific!!!!
In every PBEM game I am playing, I am seeing this. Normally, Japanese are starting with these units:

But double checking my current PBEM with Lascar, I have:

Do you see the problem? Japanese are starting the game with
200 MM.
Right now, in my game with Lascar, he has
193 MM left in the Forces tab but
0 MM destroyed in the Casualties tab.
Where are the 7 MM missing??? Is there a
Bermuda Triangle in the Pacific?
What I like to do is
Port Supply Interdiction with my subs. Does it have an impact on MM fleet?
If so, why the destroyed MM are not listed in the
Casualties tab?
And, if so, why the destroyed MM are not written in the below report for
Supply Interdiction combat log?

Just uploading my current game with Yuejin, the numbers are not correct as well.
He has
177 MM in the
Forces tab and he has
11 MM destroyed in the
Casualties tab.
But 177 + 11 = 188. So, there are 12 MM missing in this game.
I bet for Port Supply Interdiction. If it could just be logged if this is true.

Might be a specific action not recording it. When do you think these are happening? Supply?

I think this is when I am doing
Supply Interdiction. I have found a hint in the manual page 61:

The combat log of
Supply Interdiction should mention how much MM were lost if any.
And, the MM lost should be listed in the
Casualties tab.
Thanks

Well, looks like I was too quick. Playing with 1.00.09, the losses are always 0 in the reports whereas in the Casualties they are listed.

So when is it being sunk? supply attacks or convoy attacks not recorded?

Yes...not overly a fan of this...
I guess I am okay with a possible MM being sunk but there should be a chance a sub is damaged or even sunk also.
Most MM fleets had armed merchants...not that they were great but better than a sub on the surface a lot of times.
