Clarification of UK units in France

In our current PBEM I moved some UK units in to France which I didn't do in our first game. It looks like my opponent is not going to declare Vichy so at some point he will accept the surrender of France. It is now the end of September 40 and I still have UK units in Cherbourg, Brest and Bordeaux. I previously asked the question as to what happens to these UK units when the Axis accept the surrender of France and the reply was that the UK units would remain where they are in France.
I have also occupied Beirut and Tripoli in Syria. I am thinking of occupying Tunis and as many ports on the Med in French North Africa and assume that those UK units would also remain in their locations. This would then necessitate the Axis to conduct amphibious invasions to take those places. In our first game it took a long time for the Allies to fight their way to Tunis along the North African coast.
I would like to confirm that the UK units that have occupied French owned hexes in Syria and North Africa will not disappear or be re-located when the Axis accept the French surrender. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Units deep in Vichy France that can not be moved, X hexes to a "owned" hex (I do not know X), will be placed in the deployment queue.

I forget how long but in the past it was months...so DO NOT do that.

You might have half your army moved to the deployment queue for many turns and that would be bad.

I have NOT recently tested it.
I remember I had a unit Africa and it went into the deployment queue for 3 months.

Thanks for the reply but I am not expecting him to declare Vichy so at some point he will accept the surrender of the French. At that time will the UK units I have in French North Africa remain on the map?

When he declares Vichy you have one turn to move your units. If they stay they will get kicked.

Actually, there is one turn delay from the moment when Vichy can be declared. So if on Axis turn 1 Vichy conditions are met, Axis can declare it on turn 2 and all effects are immediate in the middle of that turn. So the UK (and France) does have its own turn 2 to do stuff (such as evacuating).

However if the Axis does not declare Vichy on turn 2, he can still declare it on 3, or 4 etc (as long as the condition still holds), always with immediate effects. So in France proper at least, the UK should run to ports on turn 2 just in case. If not, if he leaves troops at the front believing that the Axis will not declare Vichy, well the Axis could change his mind and do it if he thing he might bag a few UK units fighting still at the front in the middle of France.

PS : Remember, UK units not in Vichy territory stay on map (possibly OOS).
