Map enhancement: Railroads & Engineer built defense

Part #1 Railroads --- It's tough to quickly recognize the difference between a railroad and just roads/paths. Anyway to get a graphics dude to spice up the appearance of railroads. My old fish eyes, squinting and still not crystal clear. Wanna say, the Cumberland/Chattanooga area isn't completely connected.

Part #2 Engineer Forts --- They're light tan, more like hidden bear trap to see. Maybe a darker brown?

[Question] There's different types of woods. Are they the same for combat? Looking at map and the manual, shows different icons. Small trees and lots of trees.

Asking for a Legend,
-Elvis

Great idea and you should be able to distinguish between the forts and other troops when you zoom all the way out to the entire map.

All terrain of each type counts the same, we just use a variety of graphics to try to make things as authentic looking as possible while also being aesthetically pleasing.

@BR - Thanks, trees are trees. Density doesn't matter.

Far as railroads, would be nice to be bolder. Tough to distinguish. I'll need to figure how to use for Artillery, Armor Train, user Rail (Operand).

As the Union or CSA the Rails are pretty tough to distinguish by looks. If you take a unit and rail it in various locations and see where point and point B is you can get a decent feel what you're capable of. I think as I recall you can rail into Little Rock from any major point on the Map as the CSA. There are limited rail in various locations ... Pretty much most major urban centers allow for rail or placement of units.

Similarly for the North, which has a much more extensive rail network. Easy to cut as well with cavalry. . . I think I found From Boston to Maryland to Kentucky to Missouri you got a rail network. . . Makes decent sense. I think you could use more locations that you could rail to and more affordably.

It's a bit like the Map Arrows that carry you to various sections as Loops, it's confusing and you either have to read about each or try it. I like to learn on hands... be nice to have a message on map that says(To: Amarillo)

There are not any RR links from the main trunk lines of the CSA west across the Mississippi. Interestingly, and to BNC's credit...there are other lines that end abruptly, (the War stopped construction westward in its tracks-pun intended.)😎
Also, in the CSA in Florida and Georgia...there are local lines that go from the interior to ports. These were built to haul all that cotton for export. These lines also never got connected by the time the war began. Checj out Jacksonville, Florida for an example of that.

I had noticed some odd and isolated rails which make an irritating situation. I did think Vicksburg was a major hub to transport cattle from Texas? At least the Texans may have got the Cattle there or other resources and then rail took it some of the way? I know the trains in the Confederate regions were often loaded, unloaded and then reloaded... They had a dreadful logistics system. All that Northern Industrious, FreeThinking nature paid off in this regard. I love your Avatar by the way... One of my favorite The Good, Bad and the Ugly ! (We need a Blondie!)

Haha..I was going to use this image, but I think there's a couple of Clints running around the forum. It does suit me though, with all the jams I get myself in both with games and real life. The Random Numbers Goddess has saved me many, many times. :D
Anyways..Tuco fits my personality, or so I've been told.......
