Hello Grognards, Warlords, and Armchair Generals welcome to the War Map mod.

After some testing with Old Crow it is time to share the War map mod with the SC-ASW community. I would like to give a shout out to Hubert who help make the mod for easy access and use.

I would also like to thank Platoonist and IslandInland for their initiative in using the map from the onset.

Last but not least thanks to our esteemed grognard Old Crow who actually got this ball rolling to create the map.

Place the “War Map Mod” folder with its contents here: Users > username > Documents > My Games > Strategic Command > American Civil War > Mods

On the map below it looks like the Union has started their blockade of the south.

Disclaimer: The counter you see on the map below does not come with the "Map mod" just a tease of what is to come.

I was under the impression that you did not need an account to download files from Box. It would appear that you may need to make one.

PM me your email I will send you a zip file.

Unfortunately I am not a wiz when it comes to this stuff. Hopefully I can figure out a better way. Until then PM me.

Thanks for a great map.

As the map is smaller than 10mb you can just zip the map and upload it to your post like you see at the bottom of this post.

Effectively it is being hosted on this forum itself.

To do this either zip your mod or download the zip I have uploaded in this post then upload it in your first post. Edit you first post, below the post you can see Attachments, click that and upload war map mod.zip. Wait a few seconds for the file to show up then Click "Place inline". Finally click "Submit". You are done.

You could also just upload the map to you first post as an image like you have the one with the new Union monitor counter art. That way anyone who wanted the map can just right click the map in your first post and select Save Image As. They will need to rename it to map.png before placing it in their SC:ACW install. This is how I got your map to begin with, I just saved the image from the forum post. As it was the correct size 1589x856 I renamed it and used it.

Love this - makes life so much easier using the Warmap now which previously I ignored as it was too simplistic.

I found that putting the map.png into just the \mods folder was not working for me.

I put it into either a \Mods \Interface folder - as the file lives in the interfaces subfolder or then in the \Interface folder of any customised games I had created - e.g.

x\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command - American Civil War\Campaigns\_1863 Lee Rides North Confederate\Interface

thank you for the great map. But is the MI in the south wrong? It is the State Mississippi and I think MS will be correct.

Yep, Mississippi is MS.
Michigan is MI.

May I ask, where do I drop the .png file? Ah nevermind i figured it out. thank you for the cool map!

Drop the png in your Strategic Command ACW install folder>Campaigns>Interface folder.

Do this for each of the campaigns as each has it's own Interface foilder.

Also if you have custom campaigns you will have do the same for each of those. They are located at Documents>My Games>Strategic Command American Civil War>Campaigns.

Alternatively you can go to Mods folder at Documents>My Games>Strategic Command American Civil War>Community Pack. There create a folder named War Map Mod. Inside that folder create a folder named Interface. Drop the png into the Interface folder.

So it should look like Documents>My Games>Strategic Command American Civil War>Community Pack>Mods>War Map Mod>Interface

In game go to Settings>Mods and click in the box next to War Map Mod so you see an X in the box.

Check in game you can see the map mod by loading or starting a campaign and zoom all the way out so you can see the war map.

Ooooops at least it wasn't "MIA" LOL... I just crack me up sometimes.

All righty here is the new and improved map.

Fixed Mississippi from MI to MS.

I reduced the font size slightly on the map.

I changed the Mexico and Canada font didn't quite like it.

Please see png file here you can use this one to replace the old one.

Just a small question, why is "KS" not explained in the key or written out in full as "Kansas"? So, I suggest to explain "KS" in the legend/key.
I know it's the unmodded main game style, but wouldn't it be nicer to write it out in full, in the "territory manner" or explain it? Because it has became a state in 1861, I would prefer "KS" and the extra explaination. But as a territory or fragile "semi-state", territory manner might be right, too.

Kansas was a Union state at the time the civil war broke out in April 1861.

Added in the key: above each section of states "Union states", "Confederate states", and "Border states".

This PNG file can replace the old map file.

No, I tried, I had to put it in the campaign folder, I wanna play. I used it with the normal Mod folder, I think the Community Mod folder has to have the same structure.
And I had to rename it from "Map.png" to "map.png".

I wanna thank for the great work of the map. Graphical improvement of the game.

It worked for me.. Be aware there are 2 Community Pack > Mods folders. One in the main install folder of the game and another in Document > My Games > Strategic Command American Civil War.

It is in the latter one that you need to create a folder called War Map Mod and inside that create a folder named Interface. Inside the Interface folder place the map.

The map mod has to be renamed to map.png

It doesn't work for me in none of the 3 Mod folders in that structure. Thank you, I didn't know there was a 3rd Mod folder in the main game folder.
