Hi,

Like the UK election process for a new PM I am fast approaching a new "format" for German command *( and Russian when the time comes).

Germany never needs more than 15 commanders, though these might change per year. So I hardly need to mention who this would be to a WITE 2 audience.

So there are 15 legends that can basically run the whole show and wite2 is pretty generous in how many units they can control. :)

Can you imagine how many AP you will save !!!

I am yet to figure any downside to this so the ONLY question is WHAT to do with lets say 40 leaders that are just window dressing and by in large useless.

Lastly, I'd be very interested in:

1) Anything wrong with the above idea . [ wite2 is pretty generous in how many units they can control. :)]
2) WHAT best to do with 40 " try hards" that have no place in the German Army.

So you are saying to just place leaders (German Field Marshals and Generals, and 1 Romanian) in OKH, the Army Groups and the Armies, and then that's all that is needed on the Axis side?

OKH - 1
Army Groups - 3
Armies - 13 (4 in the north, 4 in the enter, 5 in the south)

1 army in the south is Romanian

i) The maluses start to become pretty heavy if units are more than 5 hexes away from their direct HQ.

Note that all HQs, regardless of level, can only provide
leadership to units that directly report to it over 5
hexes. So an Axis unit reporting to the OKH must be
within 5 hexes or is treated as being out of command
range and in this case the notional command range
(21.11.4) of a higher level HQ is ignored.

ii) If you are proposing to do away with corps HQs, you are forgoing a round of leader 'save' rolls

So if the Corps HQ fails a leader roll,
The army leader has a chance, if this fails
The army group leader has a chance, if this fails
OKH has a chance

The odds diminish as you progress through the chain of command (see section 15.5 in the manual)

iii) replacing army commanders is often quite expensive in terms of AP

It's a fine idea apart from these 3 points above
