Shorter turns-workable?

While I don't have the game, have been regularly following the AARs with interest.
The one thing which struck me when I first got to check out the game in detail thanks to the AARs is that the turns are weekly. You all know that a LOT can happen in a week of course. From the lack of turn length mods here tho can I gather that doing so is unworkable or undesirable for one reason or another? I'd imagine supply, movement rates, attack rates, and a whole bunch of other stuff would need to be changed as well, and it might also make encirclements more difficult to pull off without another mod made to compensate. It would also cause games to drag on even longer than they already do. WitP somehow makes it work with daily turns, but that is WEGO of course.
