Bad Retreat Paths

I now seen it happen three times. The Union line is on the north side of Potomac river. The Rebels have attacked brigade units on the western end of the line causing them to retreat. Instead of retreating into Maryland northward, they have retreated 4-5 hexes down the line to an empty hex between Washington and Alexandria. Where more Rebel units promptly kill them.

Either the game is set to have any unit in the Eastern theatre head for a hex adjacent to Washington or the game is having some serious retreat pathfinding problems.

Screenshot shows the type retreat I am seeing when the Brigade is attacked until it retreats.

Hi Kennonlightfoot,

Thanks for the report and just to clarify, the retreat in question happened immediately after an attack by your forces?

I just want to make sure I understand correctly as the retreat mechanism is universal, e.g. it would be the same for your own units and if your own units exhibited odd retreat behaviour then it would be possible for the AI to exhibit the same odd behaviour as it would then be a bug with the retreat mechanism code, and not something AI specific.

Which makes me wonder if it wasn't a retreat per se, but rather later in the AI sequence it simply attempted to place a unit in that hex for some other reason?
