are there any Map Icon mods with a little bigger easier to see icons?

The issue of icon visibility seems to come up a lot, what with aging eyes and all. Unfortunately, the game's map icon file is only 25 pixels wide, so you can't make the icons themselves much larger. So, I've been tinkering with trying to enhance their visibility (a little bit) by placing them on colored tiles of the appropriate national color. These graphics don't always make it directly obvious as to what sort of TF it is, but at least you know for sure that there is one there. The only issue is that sometimes the tiles can partly cover the exclamation points icons that let you know if the supply situation at a base is critical. I also tried to beef up the dot base icon, as that graphic was always tough to see.

For those of us with failing eyes, can you share these?

Okay, so if interested, they are here in a folder called "revised mapicons". When you unzip the folder, place the twelve mapicon bitmap (.BMP) files located inside into the ART folder of the WITP/AE directory. They'll replace the current bitmap files, so back those up if you want to keep them around. I didn't make up any of the spare mapicon files, just the ones for the eleven nations represented in the game. So, if you had your heart set on purple or teal colors representing your favorite country, you're on your own.
There are two files for Japan. One has the default rising sun flag, the alternate has the more low-key red disc on a white background flag. It's labeled mapiconsJ_altJ. Rename it to mapicons_J if you wish to use it.
Like I said, they're not eye-poppingly larger than the current game icons, but they do heighten their visibility a little. Cheers.

Between Skacee's new map and these icons. I can actually see aal the map details. It is a little cluttered in spots, but seeing is more important.

Oh. My. God. Thank you *so* much! My old eyes absolutely could not see my little green subs on a dark blue background, now I can. The computer AI better watch out now...

Was a bit apprehensive at first but what a wonderful transformation, must admit I made a slight tweak to better highlight minefields, so as a suggestion I have attached a example of the minefield expanded symbol.

These look great! Can I have your permission to use these icons in the Rising Sun mod I am currently developing? I have one question: how do I separate these icon 'strips' into individual unit 'counters' that the game can use? Am I missing something, because they all appear to be joined together.... ?

I must say these are excellent and I am recommending them for my mod !!
