Search arcs

Hello all,
I bought witpae 10 years ago and have not played it in forever. I recently loaded it on my new computer and started a new game as allies and was making search arcs for my patrol planes. I thought the hotkey to display the search arcs was "z"?
I am not able to see the aircraft search arcs displayed.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you left the range setting at 0, it would not show anything. If you did not set a specific arc for the search, leaving it on "Arcs Random", it will not show anything.

@ RangerJoe In looking at the hotkey list you posted I dont even see an option to toggle search arcs?
@BBfanboy I had range at 8, search arcs from 270 to 90 degrees. 80% search level from an 18 aircraft dauntless squadron on the Lexington.
@btd64 I tried to get a screenshot but coulnt figure out how to move it to jepg format
I was using the Z key but in looking at the hotkey list posted by RangerJoe the Z key appears to be for the control zone map?
I'm trying to see the search arcs in the blue/green patterns for my search planes.

"Z" or "z" does show the search arcs in my game. I just opened a save to check.

You also need to set clockwise or counterclockwise if needed. Clockwise is the default. If your task force moves in another direction, when you set the search arcs you may not get the coverage that you need/expect.

You have to have your screen shot, then you need to open a program like "Paint 3D" which you select for a new picture/file. You then paste you screenshot that you saved, the you select "save as" where you give it the name and the file type as well as the file location where you want to save it. I suggest saving it in the ".jpg" format.

See above.

If you have double coverage, the search arcs will show up as black.

I hope that these helps.

Another thing is that not all aircraft can recon at max range, so try reducing your search to within normal range.
Also note that if day/night searches both happen in the same 10º arc, the lines are black instead of blue or green.

I found out why I could not see my search arcs!
I had not downloaded the patch.
Now Z works for me too!
I have 1 other question? I think there is a way to use Fullscreen, widescreen mode at 1920X1080 resolution?
Thanks,
Kanibal

There should be. Did you install the game using SeaBee?

No, I installed from my original cd. Then I found the 1126 patch on the tech support page and downloaded it.
Should I download and use the Seabee installer now? Or do I need to reinstall to use Seabee?

Controlling how the game appears on the screen involves adding "switches." SeaBee makes adding the appropriate switches easier than doing it manually. However, adding switches manually is only a tad bit harder. Actually, it is easy too.
A search of the form for "switches" leads (among other things) to this, which explains each of the switches and where to add them:

If you reinstall using SeaBee, set up a different folder for that installation. You don't have to but then you can compare what the switches do.
Also, it is good to have a plain "vanilla" installation to get files from if you are trying to change the appearance and/or installing different mods as well as artwork.
If you do PBEM, it would not hurt to have that as a separate installation either.
