Hi, I'm playing the Nicaragua Missile Crisis scenario. build is 1273.1. when my fighters get to the aaw patrol area they don't switch to loiter. I noticed it happening in the build before this also. I haven't checked other scenario's.

thanks,
scott

Have you checked your groups Speed and Height tab, the one that is brought up with pressing F2, to see if you have accidentally/unwittingly set a different manual speed, such as cruise for your group? Not likely, by the way.
If you have not done so, you can bring up the F2 tab and there and manually override any speed and force the aircraft to fly at it and it will obey (Altitude is a little trickier but if no enemies or enemy missiles are around you can most often force changes in altitude too) the speed you have set for your individual groups.

Just remeber that if you have set a manual speed and a unknown/enemy aircraft shows up which your aircraft assigned to the AAW patrol will investigate you now have to remove the manual override speed or set another more appropriate manual speed for interception for all the groups now.

I am not familiar with this scenario, but I have had many years of problems (With both CMANO and CMO on three computers running three OSes) with what you are roughly describing coming and going (Mostly staying) with different patches/updates.

Problemes include aircraft not obeying mission parameters as regards to altitude or speed, most often on support missions or strike missions.
It also includes aircraft not obeying mission parameters as regards to primaily altitude but sometime speed on AAW patrols.
Most annoying is when aircraft enroute to a target not being assigned to any mission is not keeping altitude and suddenly dives and stays at minimum altitude for no discerniable reason (no enemy contact within a hundred nautical miles or more) which is very annoying with relatively heavily loaded light attack aircraft - since they climb slow - being on relatively long flights to approach a target where you suddenly realize one section of maybe six total are flying at minimum level and has been doing so for a while and now won't have enough fuel to reach target and meanwhile you have done so much other stuff you don't wan't to replay the scenario at that time just mechanically repeating what you've just been doing.

I haven't bothered reporting the bugs more than one time, but this seems to me a perennial issue, but it's possible to solve manually, although it requires substantial micromanagement and constant checkups on your flights making pauses necessary.

I haven't seen this behavior since I starting playing a little (Maybe ten hours) for the first time in 6-12 months or something since the summer updates/betas came out though but I don't now if it's permanently gone since the play has involved very little aircraft in mission use and not that much aircraft use.

But one idea might be to update to the new beta releases that has come out over the summer, if you find this problem to be very annoying (but know what the betas entail as regards to changes to gameplay since they are the most comprehensive changes to the game since... Ever, I think, or possibly since CMANO switched to CMO).

Hi, pretty sure I'm current on all updates. one thing i have noticed since my post is that if I F2 the cap to loiter speed then manually tell them to refuel they jump up to cruise go gas up then return to the patrol are then they revert to loiter. It seems to be only after they launch and proceed to the assigned sector that they don't drop to loiter as selected in the editor. I have gone around and manually assigned them to loiter speed but sometimes things get a little busy to be micromanaging a/c speeds.

thanks,
scott

If it helps, the speed settings still work in patrol missions if you use the 'repeatable loop' movement style.

Mission throttle was getting re-set to 'cruise' if it was following a plotted course.
This could affect station or transit throttles.
Have added a fix for the next build that should let mission's throttles remain set.

Please ignore this, I checked the latest version and there are issues in both modes. I feel like this was totally fixed in the 1147 branch about a year or so ago, and broken, fixed, and broken again in the Tiny branch. See here:
