pbm games

I believe there are 2 flaws in V&V.

1. There is no opposing player playback in pbm games. By that I mean that there is no way to see what your opponent's actions were during the prior phase. In small simple games it's easily divined. But in larger scenarios it's often confusing as to how you lost that one unit... there is no opposing player playback when it's your turn to make moves.

2. It's super easy to cheat in pbm games - all you have to do is restart the match if you're not happy with your current results. The game does not log each maneuver or choice that you make once your turn begins.

Hi Ironwulf

Re 1: Valor and Victory provides a simple PBEM replay mechanism that will show a player the important actions their opponent has taken in their turn. The replay will show:
★ Enemy movement
★ Enemy fire
★ Close Assaults
The replay, if one exists, can be shown using the R hotkey.

Re 2: The PBEM server does record the number of times you download a turn - which is what would happen if you keep restarting your turn. So a blatant cheater would be easily spotted. However this is a game, even with tournament play, and as such, there is a level of honesty and trust you expect from your fellow players. I believe most players respect this and Matrix has rarely seen any instances of cheating across any of their games that support PBEM.

Thanks for the "R" tip. I've read the manual through a couple of times but never noted that hotkey. It totally works.

I tend to agree that most players here probably won't bother gaming the game. It's good to know you have a server-side insight though.
