As the CSA when I lose a certain city there is a large drop. I just had the State of Kansas join the CSA and there was no European intervention increase. What's the logic behind that?
Thanks.

European intervention seems to be tied mostly to holding or losing certain cities, or keeping blockade runner locations open or certain political events like the Emancipation Proclamation.

Frankly, I doubt if many 19th century European heads of state could have identified a new and sparsely populated state like Kansas on a map, so I don't think it would have budged the political needle much even if Kansas had joined.

Not a lot has changed. The average 21st century Londoner can't identify Kansas or much else either.

Even if we assume that the relevant Europeans in question are particularly well-educated on matters of American geography, they're going to receive the news and wonder "how does that help the Confederacy win the war?" Kansas, outside of the propaganda effect of flipping a state and making it harder to get the gold out of the West, is pretty much worthless in the grand scheme of things - there's no-one there. The Europeans care mostly about the ports because ports mean foreign trade is possible, and big cities because the loss of a place like Atlanta or Nashville is a very clear sign that the South isn't doing so well.

Thanks for the replies. Now I see the logic.
