Can Germany win by early winter if playing Sudden Death Victory Condition? What do you think is Germany's chance against "equal" skilled opponents? This poll goes with this post https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6&t=388308 where I give this a very low chance. What do you think?

I can with slight shame say I have lost as the Axis by not hitting the HWM, my Soviet counterpart was/is very good.

Also about 3 years ago when I was green that same fellow took the Axis and won in 1941, everyone knows and loves him.

I am close to 0% but not exactly there yet. I think it is good the game is set up for the long haul.

I am new to WITE-2, but I'd say the key here is 'equal skill'. In that case, I guess it's kinda of 2-5% if the Russian player does something preposterously wrong in the disposition of his forces, such as a badly ended attempt to do a massive strategic counteroffensive in summer '41 or something like that.

I feel like an early capture of Leningrad and a poorly managed defence of Moscow can do the trick, which is rather unlikely: it would require a massive mistake in the Smolensk-Vyazma area on the russian side and, even then, the axis would be quite pressed... And all this with a big chunk of luck weather-wise.

Simply put, it's rather odd to even pursue the goal as Axis player.

I agree too. Let me see if I can redo the Poll and change the numbers to get the lower numbers in the poll

With equal forces, a German victory ahead of schedule is generally impossible. But you can draw. The victory of Germany is possible only with a weak player for the Russians, for this the rule of early victory was invented. That's why I don't play a campaign without an early end.

are you asking is it possible for Axis to win before '41 winter?

Obviously its a 100% yes.

Or are you asking how likely is Germany to win?
