This is a feature for beginners who are learning how to play.

When this feature was first introduced in Beta, I used it, since I had no clue about WITW Air War, after using it a few times I got the gist of what it was trying to do, but dived into understand the Air War from WITW as it pertained to WITE2 and learned and went from there (Went on to create the first turn manual bombing manual). I have just recently delved back into WITW and had to really dig into how the Air War works, both Strategically and Tactically.

So in short I never used the AI air assist (nor the AI Depot or Air Movement for that matter) any more and just micromanage the Air War (or the logistics) myself.

Stopped using it a couple of months after WITE2 was released , as previously stated the AI is good to use whilst learning the ground war.
Having read forum articles on how to manage the air side and using Zov's first turn set up I now manage the air side manually all the time.

Not even once.

I use it all the time when playing. I am not a hardcore player and a bit more on the arcade side and come from HOI4. It had good enough results to allow me finish my grand campaign against the AI as Germany successfully. I also use the AI depot management. Maybe without those I would have never done a grand campaign, but only the smaller scenarios.

@K62, what do you think about AI Air Assist?

Should be another option, I manually set missions and use the air assist

As a newbie, I am happy the option is there. Currently learning the air war, I like to press the button in H2H to see what the AI do. Then, I am able to change things if I am willing to.

Most of the time. I usually play against the AI and I'm just not interested in the air. I've learnt how to do it, micro-manged a couple of games then forgotten how it all works. Maybe if the air war system was better I could get into it more.

Used it at the very very beginning against IA while trying to figure out 'how does the function think' and quickly dropped it ASAP.


In general, I do use the air force very little for anything that's not CAP or recon. Still at the beginning of '42 I've not brought out of the 22/06/41 borders any bomber group. They are mostly in reserve and called in for naval interdiction in major businesses such as Odessa/Leningrad/Sebastopol.
