Big Picture

I'm enjoying catching up with the videos that are posted to YouTube when able, and the planning maps that Jason is posting at the start.

I'd like to see some version of those incorporated, at some point into the briefing UI itself (rather than just in the supporting PDF, which is great)- they make the agenda clear in a way that the text boxes can't, and I find myself needing reminders every few turns if I play over a long period due to RL time crunches. The visual angle helps quite a bit, along with the graphic being a map that can be called up within the game itself as part of the UI.

It would be really clarifying if this type of thing could be incorporated into the Briefings, and called up at any time. Example attached (the style is great, as shown):

That's a good idea.

I will have to think how I can incorporate that

Thanks for considering it. We wargamers like maps.

Yes, for sure. As a cartographer, I do love maps too!

The things I have to consider are:

1. Do I have multiple maps for the various areas, as the map is very large and screen sizes will vary, making reading a bit challenging for some players

2. Do I use the simplified versions that I have that show the quick general reference of each battalion's plan for the day? Or something more complicated?

3. I'm not sure if they could be made as a permanent offering, so, how often should the maps be displayed? Every 5 turns? 10 turns?

The simplified, general reference map with starting locations of formations would be the thing that I'm after. A visual complement to the things that are described in the briefing.

I'd think something that opens up by some toggle in the UI, and takes about 1/4 to 1/2 the screen would do nicely and allow browsing of the 2D/3D map at the same time.

I would actually be fine with just the starting situation being depicted. Having it updated every so often would be interesting, and I'm sure quite complicated.

Another thought would be to add important place names to the jump-map, and maybe make that take the place of the general idea. Maybe sized up a bit, as well.
