embarking land units while moving a TRS

Hi, rule says TRS can embark a unit when it moves through a port. In a game I'm in, JP has a TRS in Fukuoka (4spd,4range) that moves to CS,Seoul, tries to embark an INF then back to CS and SCS (4 move). But holding down the control key doesn't seem to work. Is this something broken in 4.2.3.2?

I do not know if it is broken in the current version, but I do know that I have been able to do this in earlier versions.
What I never tested is if it was possible to do this in return to base, which to my surprise I discovered was actually legal.

I just did it in version 4.2.2. Moved a CA to a port by <CRTL> left click and then got the embark in port form, and loaded the CA with a DIV, and then continued moving.

I just tried the same and it does not work. Once the land unit is loaded the TRS can't be selected for moving again even though it has still movement points. Yet, once you load the unit in Seoul, if do "undo" the TRS stays in Seoul and it gets all its movement points back, so you can load again and do a lot extra milage here... Clearly two bugs here (that won't be fixed until AI is done anyway).

Can I load using an earlier version (I have 2.7.1 installed) and make the move using that then re-save and continue using 4.2.3.2 or will that break the game?
EDIT: I tried with 3.2.0 and 2.7.1 neither seem to work. But I know this was working in some earlier version, I think 2.7.1 because I've done it before.
EDIT 2: I guess manually editing the file is the only work-around.

Sounds like you can undo and continue the move (keeping in mind maintaining proper movement points).

Thanks craigbear but can you be more specific? I don't understand what you are saying.

Are you guys sure that you do not select the TRS to be dropped in port when you load the unit on the TRS. Because that stops the TRS from continue moving. And easy to do. I usually do it every time that I want to do this, and have to re-do it to get it to work.

Thanks for the reply but I don't understand anything you said.
Can you say it all another way? How do you "select the TRS to be dropped in port"?

Example on how the TRS become dropped in port.
1) Picking up TRS + CA in Suez.
2) Sailing the force to Alexandria by <CTRL> left click
3) Left clicking on the TRS to select the TRS as unit to embark TERR in Alexandria (this causes the TRS to stay in port)
4) Left clicking on 'Load Unit' button to embark the TERR onto the TRS.
5) Continue to move the naval force to its final destination
6) Cursing as the TRS stays in port while I continued to move the CA.
Note that this can be achieved without the escorting CA.
The mistake I do each time as I do this was done in step 3) when the TRS was left clicked on in port. This signalled to MWIF that the TRS was to be staying in port. You want to make sure that the form says '0 units being dropped off'. Easiest way to fix this is re-click on the TRS (or on select none). On my picture below I made the error and the TRS will stay in port. Edit: Compare to previously posted picture.
Although, with that said it might very well be that you do it right all the time, and you have a bug.

Thank you. Yes this is what I'm doing. I just tested again and can now transport the unit. Huzzah.

Thanks, I didnt know that that text existed, to check the game is doing things wrong, or the system is so unfriendly we make it wrong by mistake.
Will probably be helpful and my number of curses will diminish.

Hi, in this game Japan is trying to move 2 SCS (any 2) + 2 TRS from Fukuoka into the Chinese Harbor with 6(2)3 and 5-3 INF, pick up both then take them to SCS sz 0 box. But game is crashing when we try to load both units onto the 2 TRS after control left-clicking to move the task force into the port. Can someone help resolve it? This is using 4.4.1 version.

Using the latest version, I can do what you've described without any problems.

Done. zipped game file (Naval Movement SCS.GAM).
By the way. I did the move the easy way. I moved the 2 TRS & 2 CAs out to the China Sea, loaded the HQ & inf units, and put the task force in box 1 (China Sea). I picked a box that didn't have any other units in them. I then closed, edited the game file and moved everything from the China Sea 1-box to the South China Sea 0-box.
P.S. I just noticed that the CW has 16 saved oil in Malaya & Borneo! That has to be a tempting target for Japan!

Wow ... we must be in-phase today. That's two tech issues that we've posted on at approximately the same time!

Thank you so much for the help. Yes Japan is tempted by the saved oil but Japan has been having the worst game ever and is very feeble. A combination of war with USSR, some silly mistakes, good Chinese defense, and the worst strat bombing and ground strike rolls I've ever seen. Japan didn't hit a ground strike until I think mid 1941. Japan had Chungking and Chengtu but failed to destroy the factory and managed to leave Chungking open for a 1-5 CAV to run from Kunming and retake it. Ridiculous stuff. Then USA made their first war roll and now Japan is in a huge mess.
