AI problems with AV vs AVL and idea for TRP

So question for everyone,

Working hard on the Pacific and the Japanese AI's ability to do invasions and I am noticing something (TRP Mod).

The AI has a hard time dealing with an AVL and an AV

Reason I mention this is because if you tell the AI to build an AVL they will build an AV instead if they are not able to afford the AVL. This then turns into a chain reaction of problems where GOAL_POSITION points cannot be met and throws the timing of attacks completely off.

This problem is not fixable by increasing the build length. I had a build length of 13 turns and the AI still did this issue.

So since the AI has this issue I was thinking that maybe we should get rid of AV's all together and just have AVL's in the TRP mod. This would then solve the issue of the AI getting confused (seen the AI do this in Europe D-Day and it it's invasion of North Africa).

EDITED: Based on conversations another idea is to have Japan and USA forced to use only AVLs and leave the rest of the countries as is. This would then solve the problem as the timing issues mainly involve these two countries (USA with invasions in North Africa, and Pacific and Japan with its Pacific invasions)

I don't know what to suggest, but I wouldn't like what this would do to a mp game.

Giving Germany/Italy immediate access to AVLs is a bad idea.
Denying Germany/Italy access to AVs is a bad idea.

With the much larger size navy in TRP World for Germany this should not be an issue. The UK Navy should be able to decimate anything the Germans send their way.

If that is what you are worried about.

Umm, wow, ok. Asking a question so I can understand.

Another option is to have some countries be locked to AV only while others get AVL

So maybe have Japan and USA only able to build AVL and leave the remaining countries as is. This would solve my AI problem in the Pacific.

That sounds like a solution worth trying Lothos.

I think Taxman may have been alluding to the exploits players will do if they have the means, not that I can speak for him.

It seems to be working limiting the AI to one type being available to it. Unfortunately this means that in MP games they will only have one type to.

There might be a way around that - to have an Automatic Upgrade tech that increases the Build Limit of the relevant type, and which the AI is not scripted to invest in.

That way only humans can invest in it, and they will then have the relevant type once they've reached level 1 or higher.
