Everytime I start the Battle for Arracourt scenario with Historical Weather checked the weather nevertheless is random? Sometimes it is overcast, sometimes misty, sometimes clear? Whats the point of the setting?

I don't think it's random.
0 chance the predictions are mistaken - they say.

Sadly the weather library is tuned for winter so Arracourt don't use the library but only the random system weather !
Sooner or later we must fix this !

Please fix this asap. This is very disappointing, since you have to start the scenario several times until the weather is historical, which I guess is "misty".

With last update the weather library is 4 seasons but busy with DC5 i had no time to test the summer weather.
I made a little fix to increase the probability of "mist" than "overcast" at start.
Give it a try !
Simply overwrite the scenario in the "ardennesscenarios" folder.

Thanks, Davide for the fast response on this!
I tried it, but now with the "Historical Weather" option it is still very randomized with "Heavy Precipitation", "Overcast", "Light Precipitation" and "Mist".

Btw: Can't wait to get some information about DC5 - really love your games!

How about a fix for Wacht Am Rhein? Historical weather was mist from Dec 16-20, Heavy Snow Dec 21-22, Clear Dec 23 on.
It is frustrating trying to get started on a new game and have to deal with allied air power that I should not have to deal with for the first week. I am rusty enough thanks.

During the betatests we preferred the "overcast" weather that reduce the air attack but if you want this is a version with "mist" weather.

To avoid overwrite the official scenario you must direct load the scenario "Wacht_am_Rhein_1.49b" with the "load scenario" button .

So Mist prevents air attacks and Overcast just reduces them I take it?

Yes "mist" prevent all air activity.

This is an interesting US Air Force summary of weather 16 dec.44 - 9 jan.45

Thanks for posting this. I was already trying with "bad weather" but this seems to reduce visibilty quite a bit. I will let you know if it is worth the trade off of no Allied Air for seven days. Just finishing turn three.

Also during the bad weather days the Allies (but also the Luftwaffe) flew more than 200 air missions !
So "no air activity " seemed a bit unrealistic.

This broadcast interviews both the German and American meteorolgists from the battle. Hitler was looking for five days of low flying clouds and mist, he got seven. Flying sorties doesn't mean they were able to be effective. It doesn't help if you can't pin point the enemy. This battle has been a favorite of mine for over fifty-five years and while I do not claim to be any expert, one of the precepts of the battle was that the weather grounded Allied air for the first week, or effectively did.
