Trends and Developments in Warsaw Pact Theater Forces, 1985-2000

Great CIA piece from 1985, speculating what a functional USSR and Warsaw Pact in 2000 would have in its army. It would include nine of the newer, more (seemingly) tactically astute "mobile corps" (six in Europe, two in the Far East, and one in the "Southern Theater" by the Middle East).
Very good resource for "what if" continued Cold Wars.

Thanks, this will be a good read.
The Corps structure just makes so much more sense when you are trying to achieve a rapid destabilizing advance. I was starting to run out of existing corps HQs in Northern Fury, so this will be a help.

I wish I had this document about 10 years ago! Would have saved me a lot of work and supposition, which I think is still sound after a quick readthrough. I see that Northern Fury uses the Corps a little more robustly than the documents project, but the concept is the same.
Frustrating that even now some of the equipment numbers are redacted... ah well
I think I'll be referring to this one frequently.

Glad I could help you by finding it, and glad your original research wasn't warped too much by this.
