I am wondering if the same rule applies here too:

Supply convoys are attacked as sea not in the port itself.

Both moves were into port...so I would have expected the fighter to intercept both not just one of them.
I understand the AA rule...the ships are being intercepted before entering port.
But the air did not make sense.

Yes but does the engine considers the path to the port like for Supply Interdiction? That would explain why there is no 100% chance of interception.

To be cristal clear, maybe the DD was damaged on its way to the port.

Maybe...but it clearly says...air attack by III Bomber Group, 1 damage.

effectiveness might have been below the threshold after the 1st combat

Since it was the first intercept that failed that would not be it.

Did it fail to intercept the unit? Or are you saying it failed to intercept a bomber? which isn't possible.

Well...
The first DD sailed into port and the bomber successfully intercepted...the DD took 1 hit. BUT the fighter based in New Caledonia did not even appear to attempt to fly.
The second DD sailed into port and the bomber successfully intercepted...the DD did not take any hits. BUT the fighter based in New Caledonia successfully intercepted and shot down 4 bombers.
PERHAPS the first one the fighter failed to intercept...but i have not seen that occur in any land bombing runs...or any naval ones using a direct attack rather than a movement intercept.

Odd. I will put it on the list.

I'm looking at the code. It is the same no matter what.
Only time the bomber doesn't get intercepted is if it doesn't find the fleet.
The assumption is some PBY spots the fleet then they call in the bombers.
So it attacked twice successfully but only got intercepted once by the fleet's air sups.... is that correct?

I can't find where it prevents an air sup from intercepting.
If there was an error it is odd it happens on the 1st try.

This one will take more details to figure out. I tracked all the functions to trace interceptors and it is right.
