This has been discussed before, but currently I feel the Pripyat marshes are too easy to move within.
So I changed it to what is shown in the picture.
Yay or nay?

It is easily defendable by the Soviets. Just putting a unit every other hex will drastically slow down the Axis. There were some roads there also. I followed the WitE map for guidance on this matter.

The region might have supported a small force thru it, but not army sized units .... I still have a problem with this ... history doesn't support it

Maybe one of the problems with a road in the marshes is that it costs only 1 move point to move into a road hex, even from an adjacent non road hex.

I played a few games with Hadros who is a very good player. I am ok. The marshes are never a problem. I put 3 half strength Russian corps and he can't fight them in the swamp behind the river lines.

If he dedicates forces to the swamp he slows himself down elsewhere. It was the same for me. So the best the Germans can really do is move forward the same amount of units slowly and force the Russians slowly retreat. Attacking is pretty bad there.

The Russians can also toss in a bunch of beat up units to form a line which requires the Germans to put a good amount of force there to kill it.

But the easier solution is to pretty much ignore it and surround the marches.

But no you can't just leave it empty. It goes the other way in 1944 as well.
