In truth this should be posted over on the War in the West forum. However, I am playing WITP these days and am here more often than there. I just bumped into this story about General Ridgeway and his role in the immediate run-up to the Italy invasion. The story of his actions, and those of several colleagues, in turning off what would have been a disastrous landing for the 82nd Airborne is fascinating. How individual courage on the part of several individuals, strong leadership and finally good luck can change history has always fascinated me. I knew some of these details, but not all of them. A good read.
