Hidden Enemy Objectives

I have played through the first two tutorial scenarios, both times with a contested result but upgraded due to enemy casualties. I noticed that in these there is a 1500-point objective that you don't see until the game is over. I held it in the first, but in the second, although I whacked the MRR pretty hard and took back the two bridge objectives, the enemy ended up owning the 1500 point. I thought I had that bridge under observation and also the rout to it blocked, but somehow, they got it. There were no enemy units near it at game end.
Now I remember that a Hind did sneak around early in the scenario and may have flown over it. Can attack helicopters capture objectives?
I get the notion of not knowing about enemy objectives, but what can one do to not lose a scenario by not knowing anything about enemy objectives and thus possibly never capturing it nor preventing the enemy from sneaking a unit around to grab it?

Air units cannot capture objectives. And helicopters only count in 'ownership' evaluations at the end of the scenario if there are also ground units within 'influence range' of an objective. Without nearby ground units, helicopters don't influence objective ownership.
For normal objectives (with value to both sides), to know the state of an objective, it suffices to have a unit with a line-of-sight into that objective hex. Depending on visibility, that unit does not have to be in the objective hex. It does not matter if that friendly unit actually spots hostile units in the objective hex or not.
Alternatively, play the game without fog-of-war for the victory point map markers; fog-of-war is set in the the pre-scenario difficulty settings screen.
However, in this case the scenario designer put in an objective with 0 VP for NATO and 1500 VP for Warsaw Pact, which is hidden to NATO. There is nothing you can do to know about this objective, unless the scenario designer tells you about it i the briefing. The main purpose of these objectives is to "draw" the Computer Player to certain locations.

(edit: I initially missed that you were referring to a WP only VP in the tutorial scenario, and gave a more generic explanation).

Thanks. I did not know about the ability of units to "influence" an objective. This explains what happened. I knew the 1500-point WP Obj was there from playing Tutorial and I kept an over watch on the objective but not a unit on it. The bad Guys tried to fight down the road with their BTR units and got clobbered doing so, but one probably got close enough to influence although it never got there.
Good stuff to know.

It is also possible a recon unit grabbed it and then fell back closer to the main body of the force. Did the end game note that it changed or was retained? That might clue us in better.

Luckily, I saved the end of game file. I just went in and checked the status of the Objective, and this is what it says:
NATO Objective, 0/1,500 VP at 1221: Control will pass to Warsaw Pact.
This is interesting as there is not much left of the MRR and the US didn't suffer many casualties:
WP casualties in points: 2429
NATO: 414

The end result is based on what is left on the map, proximity to the objective, and time left on the clock.
