Matrix Games Forums

Hi guys, I am looking for the "correct" point of view for the WITE2 map for easier overlay of longitude and latitude lines etc. . Has anyone found some nice POV to overlay on our 2D map or can tell me where to center the map?

Hi!
Its difficult to know what and where that point should be.
Everything is locked by the WitE-2 map projection, which longitude is straight upwards and the horisontal hex net.
Some maps that correspond mostly to the game map are the GSGS serie 2957 in scale 1: 4 000 000. Revised 1941.
The projection is conical ortomorphic with standard parallells at 27 and 63 Latitude North.
So also in the serie GSGS 4072 scale 1:500 000. Europe air category.
But I am no expert in this field so perhaps someone else can have better ideas and more correct explanations?
Here 2 maps from serie 2957 are put together by me that correspond exactly to the WitE-2 map.
This with same areas and long. lat. drawings. Note the straight upward Long.10.

Thanks for that map, this one rly helps me already.

I guess there won't be many in this forum knowing as much/more than you unless we would have some "landscape measuring guy" or Geography student or such in here.

All that mapping of the globe is a science in itself, I like that they've tried to go some more realistic approach than the "usual map" of the world which is basically fantasy. But I am sometimes struggling with some latitudes and the finding of locations where I normally would just go East (on a usual map) and therefore I'd like to see some map overlay of latitudes ingame which one could follow to find a city. Until then I am trying to overlay latitudes onto my planning map for now and that's where your map comes in handy, thanks again.

Concerning the fantasy-map-topic:
This website is good for those willing to lose their minds looking at Greenland or Russia being dwarfed!
