Cannot Get Air Orders to run.

What am I missing here? I've personally assigned Air Groups, auto-assigned them, I've changed locations, modified the doctrines... nothing works and there's precisely and exactly ZERO feedback as to why.

I don't care if the actions are 'a good idea' or not, I'm merely trying to get the damned operations to go off and they simply. will. not.

Why?

First one is a "Bomb City" order. Again, don't care if it's a good idea or not, I'm just fighting this UI to get it to WORK.

Second one is a "Ground Attack" order. Same deal, I just want it to happen so I can move on to learning OTHER things.

It should NOT be this hard.

It could be the very poor weather.

The Logistics phase report should include reasons for canceling missions. Look there. It can be either the weather, or a lack of supplies or a small number of air groups. Judging by the screen, you have problems with your AOG. They have yellow corners on the icons.

Logistics report! Got it. (just checked: no "This action was cancelled because of X" messages at all.) :(

I figured it might be the weather, which is totally fine, but I'm getting absolutely no feedback from the game as to whether (HA!) or not that's true. So the game's put me in a state of not knowing the reason for the results of an action I've asked it to perform, which is mildly infuriating to say the least, and absolutely infuriating to someone who's trying to learn the mechanics. If it's just a matter of not looking in the right place fine, joke's on me: RTFM, but nothing. In a game this complex, that feedback must be there somewhere and it's... just not.

I'd like to reiterate: I don't care what the results of the actions are. I care that I'm properly operating the game itself and that the game tells me the results of the instructions I've given it. Even if it is just "Hey boss, we couldn't fly today, even our Siberian pilots looked at me like I'd grown reindeer antlers when I suggested we might have missions to perform." Because right now, I have no way to differentiate between "You screwed this up 'Rax, Lern2Reed," and "The game says, "No," 'Rax. Do you want your pilots to unionize? 'Cuz that's how you get your pilots to unionize."

I want to play, but I can't, because I don't know why something isn't happening the way I expect it to, which means I haven't learned the mechanic in question.

Edit: Comma abuse.
Edit2: Ran off the run-ons.

I checked, my missions are being completed. But mine is green. Most likely you have supply problems.

Don't get too stuck on the details of the air system. You can get 80% of what you need from it by just using ground support and paying attention to weather and supply (don't expect much in heavy rain/ blizzard; keep bomber bases close to well-stocked supply depots).

If you figure out tactical recon and naval interdiction after that, you get to 90+% effectiveness.

In my experience, the top 3 reasons why aircraft won't fly are:
1. Bad weather.
2. Low supply (fuel or ammo).
3. Bad AD target - sometimes you misclick by one hex and the target is no longer applicable (e.g. airfield attack).

You have the right idea with testing in a small scenario, but Velikiye Luki is not good for air testing due to the bad weather. Try one of the summer scenarios instead.

When setting air directives, it is a good idea to have Show Air Groups enabled. You can then check the box No Fly Info that will tell you beforehand why a group will not fly.
