Hi all, I love world war 2 and strategy games, but this game seems very daunting and unbelievably complexed. I only have limited time. Because I don't have enough time to play, what about just watching AI auto play? Can I do that? And how competent is the AI in that regard?

This game is not cheap, If you do not have alot of time it would be a waste of money. The game itself is great buuutttt it takes considerable time, and just starting out it will take you longer to figure things out.

i doubt it can give you any joy
better read AARs that have many pages (so they are not dead already during initial turns), imho:

I wouldn’t recommend what you’re thinking. It won’t really be an enjoyable viewing experience, and you won’t be able to readily follow what is happening.

I’d suggest watching a YouTuber for insights and familiarization.

Game is huge fun, I’ve played the GG east front titles for decades, but I understand the depth can appear daunting.

The interface has come a long way at letting you examine your army in different ways, and just watching the AI play you couldn’t see much of what is happening under the hood with losses, etc.

This guy isn’t an expert player, but he does a good job showing you the interface and talking through his moves and strategy:
