1.00.182 / 1.00.19 - Please protect Scapa Flow

Post by ncc1701e »

With the reduction of UK Ness Battery to 2/10 strength, I can invade Scapa Flow without any problem on turn number 2. This is a little gamey.

Or, maybe you want that UK player is patrolling to intercept any incoming fleet?

Anyhow, a solution for me would be to add a minefield on the beaches near Scapa Flow. This would avoid any naval invasion.

Another solution would be perhaps to increase the garrison to 5/10. But, if I am coming with all the Kriegsmarine to perform shore bombardment, it may not work. Minefield solution is better.

What you need is that the UK fleet would intercept the Germans, despite the fact that they are in port and not patrolling. It makes no sense that the UK fleet sits idle while the Kriegsmarine is having a field day. But this requires a change in the software.

With a minefield it is possible that no unit needs to be there because you won't be able to invade anymore so no need for a garrison.

That may not be a good solution either.

Then maybe just removing the beach would do it. This will stop invasions but also still require a garrison on the hex, as the hex could, if not, be invaded directly as it is a coastal hex.

And, then, maybe make it "blokable" like Malta? (just in case the Axis conquers the UK, they should still be able to take Scapa Flow).

But I think just improving the garrison size enough should be the simpler solution...

PS : or maybe just make the German landing craft arrive in a few turns, not be there at start?

All good comments here.

The German landing craft was specifically made for the invasion of Denmark or Norway in 1940. So, it could indeed be in the Deployment queue for October 1939 the time for the garrison to be reinforced.

Bad weather will protect it.

I'll just max the garrison.

Problem is still there in 1.00.19 patch.
