Need some help with 1.058

Hello, long time player but I have been away from it for a while. I had the 1040 version installed on my PC. When I saw 1058, I decided to give it a go. When I ran the installer, it said I had the old version and it needed to be uninstalled. I clicked the Uninstall button and it ran through and deleted some files but then eventually hung up and crashed.

Now if I try and run the 1058 Installer it says I still have an old version but the Uninstall button just does nothing. I tried looking under 'Add/Remove Programs' and nothing for the old version shows up. I deleted every directory I saw for GGWaW but so far, 1058 still wont install (it still insists I have an old version installed).

Any help?

Try deleting the folder where it was originally installed and then run the 1.058 installation file. That should work.

Hi thanks for the input. I tried that and it still doesn't work. :(

As far as I know, I have deleted every reference to the game (old version) on the PC. Are there registry entries or something that need to be deleted? Other than that, I can't see any other place where I could find/delete anything.

Hi Steve, have you tried looking into windows registry.

Maybe deleting GG World at War - A World Divided entry will allow you to install the game without the message that you have an old version installed.

In my registry I can find the game through this path:

Equipo\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's World at War A World Divided

Hope it helps.

Btw I'm no expert when tweaking the registry but I don't think deleting that entry will make things worse.

Yep, that was it! It installs now, thanks!

I looked and looked for that registry key but never thought to look in the 'wow' key lol.

Thanks again!

I had the same uninstall problem. I knew I'd have to go looking in the registry to find it. Just haven't gotten around to the search yet. Glad you saved me time by posting the exact location for us.
