Hello everyone,
along with the release of today’s patch note, we are glad to announce a
free DLC for
all the owners of Strategic Command: American Civil War, prepare yourselves for the
Franco-Prussian War.
Ever since the release of the Franco-Prussian War campaign in Strategic Command 2’s WWI Breakthrough! expansion, this conflict has become one of the most heavily requested campaigns for Strategic Command 3. Seeing as American Civil War has been designed specifically to cover 19th-century warfare (and was in part inspired by this older campaign), and as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to our loyal fans, we thought that now was the most fitting time to revisit this war.
This is a
remastered version of the original Franco-Prussian War campaign released in 2013, incorporating all of the improvements to the game engine over the last ten years while remaining faithful to the original design. Many of these improvements will be obvious: a
hex-based map, improved graphics, dynamic movement and a more capable AI opponent!

Here you can find the latest Dev Diary about the Franco-Prussian War
Enjoy the campaign and let us know what do you think about it.

Great to see the addition of the Franco Prussian War to the Strategic Command line up. But I'm a greedy dude and want to lobby for the addition of a Mexican War 1846-1848! Taylors campaign (Texas and Northern Mexico) and Scott's campaign (Vera Cruz to Mexico City) would be an awesome addition, IMO.

If we were to include the War with Mexico, perhaps we could go back a further 10 years and also include the Texas
War of Independence of 1836

I enjoyed Franco Prussian scenario, would love to see others as well. Also, wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for them as DLCs.

Is this automatically updated on Steam, or do we need to do something? I just loaded the SC ACW game on steam and didn't see it.

Providing you have the game set to automatically update, it will do so.
The game should be version 1.04.00, you can check this either at the top right of the Launcher or at the bottom right of the Main Menu.

Cool DLC !
I played and won as the French player, but I got ripped off by the British who sold me an artillery piece (I paid 50 for 6 turns, expected delivery in Orleans) but never delivered it. Is it a feature or a bug?
Weird, Gambetta left Paris on a balloon to reach Orléans to push the fighting against the prussians, but as Paris was not besieged, why would he fly a balloon?
Funny game anyway

There is a one month delay on the artillery deploying after it is purchased, it will arrive on Nov 10, 1870. Did you win the game before it was ready perhaps?
As for Gambetta, I'd like to think that he just decides to balloon out of Paris because it looks cool.

It's the last scenario "blood and iron." I didn't see it at first because it didn't say "Franco-Prussian War." Blood and Iron is a reference to Bismark's speech after(?) the declaration of the German Empire.
