Question on Anti-Tank units in SC:WaW 2

Question for experienced players -- Do the anti-tank weapons give any anti-tank bonus to friendly adjacent units? (My in game testing wasn't conclusive because RNG, and in a mark that they likely don't support adjacent, the manual didn't have anything about supporting adjacent.)
BL: Unsure how to use them properly as it seems like I'm supposed to keep them hidden and hope the enemy tanks run into them? They seem to trade generally equally against tanks and relatively weak against corps, worse against armies. Or is the idea that trading equally against tanks is good because they are cheaper to replace? Thanks for any thoughts or tips in advance!
