Interdiction and AI movement

One thing I have not tried against AI at 110 or higher is using interdiction to prevent unlimited AI movement.

My basic reading of the rules is that interdiction will not impact this movement and only zones of control impact this movement.

"30.7.2. AI on the defensive
On the defensive the AI will ignore most movement restrictions in its own territory and prioritise forming a stable line if the morale value is set to 110 or higher. It will try to move by the normal rules below this level.
The main exception to this is it will move using standard movement points if it needs to pass a hex that is covered by enemy ZoCs."

Does interdiction directly or indirectly impact AI advantaged movement?

Apologies if this has been answered previously.

I'm 99% sure that the answer to the question is no - at least in terms of movement.

I don't know if AI units take additional losses when doing their AI moves through interdicted hexes - even if that were the case I think that the interdiction levels you can generate with either side are low enough that any effect is likely to be negligible.

TBH I think that the interdiction mission has been ported over from WITW (where due to the Allied air force strength and the constricted fronts it can be very powerful) but doesn't have a great deal of utility on the Eastern Front - you are probably best off keeping it simple and concentrating your assets on Ground Support.

I actually tried it when playing the scenario "Destruction of the South-Western Front" on Impossible difficulty (vs AI), and it works. I interdicted an area of 4 x 3 hexes and barely any Soviet division could move through those hexes.

Thanks Teo,

Yes, I saw you started on that Impossible SW Front scenario way back.

This is really interesting, like Samy I was 95% sure it was not the case.

I am getting close to being able to win at Impossible level campaign as Axis, and this might help at critical moments. Everone generally says Interdiction is not woth it, maybe there is an advantage using it against AI unlimited movement.

I keep getting better, but AI is also getting better over time - but this is something extra I have not used.

Thanks
