Looking forward to the posting of the Icarus Mod

Post by ReinerAllen »

Sorry guys, but I've been following the Icarus mod for a while and it looks great. I hope that the designer team will release to a public beta.

Hi All,

I am very pleased to hear that people continue to be interested in this. I have now updated the mod to Version 4 based on recent play-testing, and will be ready to share it in the next couple of days with anyone interested. Just send me a private message with your email address and I will send you the files. I will also post an updated version of the Guide to Icarus Mod here on this Forum.

I am still working on making the adjustments to the AI settings so that the mod plays properly in Single Player mode. (The current version was written for playing in Multi-Player mode against a human opponent). I hope to complete that work by the beginning of January. If you mostly play this game in SP mode, you may wish to wait until that work is done.

There is good a possibility that this mod will be distributed to all players with the next official update to game. But there is no release date scheduled yet for that. So if you are interested in play-testing it now and giving me feed-back, I will be happy to send it to you directly. You can DM me or email me at michael.small.2010@gmail.com.

Best regards,

Michael

I am posting below the new Guide to Version Four of my Icarus mod. It contains almost all of the elements from the earlier mod, with some refinements and additions, based on recent play-testing. Some of the new features are:

- Increasing German stormtroopers combat capabilities through investment in Infantry Warfare tech
- Giving ANZAC corps the same ability as Stormtroopers to gain experience faster than regular corps through combat;
- Increased defensive strength for subs if upgraded with Advanced Subs tech
- Making torpedo boats move further and cost less to build
- Enabling powers to cease paying MPPs to earn NM points if their National Morale rises above the original trigger %
- Limiting Russia to investing only investing two chits at time in Industrial Technology, rather than three
- Permitting Russia to decide whether to place individual naval units in Baltic or the Black Sea
- A completely reworked scenario for the Entente intervention in Greece and Greek entry into the war
- A more elaborate Arab Revolt, allowing partisans to disappear into the desert and an early arrival for T.E. Lawrence
- New National Morale objectives in France, the Ottoman Empire and Persia
- Moving Bulgaria's alternate capital from Varna to Plovdiv, which is less vulnerable to a surprise attack
- Adding an Italian armistice option for the Central Powers, if they prefer not to push Italy into surrender

As mentioned above, I will be happy to send the the campaign files to anyone who is interested in play-testing the mod. Will advise when the AI scripts have been corrected for Single-Player mode.

If any build is available to play, I would certainly be interested.
