It could be helpful to have a list of abbrevations used in Shadow World.
Is there such a list to find ?

The mods using.. which one is advisable ?

Regarding mods, there are two types: (1) true mods that modify how the game works and is balanced and (2) graphics mods which are aesthetic only and don't affect the underlying game.

For a new player, I'd recommend avoiding true mods (1) until you have more experience with the game system as originally designed. It turns out SE is VERY difficult to do a true mod for and only a small set have been done so far.

For graphics mods (2), it's purely a matter of your own taste. Here are three that are popular and appealing. I use all three and they are compatible with each other.

Eddy Vegas UI Mod v3.11 - this updates and brightens the user interface and gives it more color

Pymous ArtPack v4 - this is an excellent re-rendering of the strategem cards

Mroyer Terrain v3.3 with or without DasTactic Overlays - this is my own terrain mod designed to make some of the more subtle terrains more distinguishable and to give the maps a more textured feel. DasTactic's icon overlays go a step further making the terrains even more distinguishable by overlaying a terrain icon in the hex.
