WiF what is the current official version?

I recently purchased Wif and currently have version 4.4.1 (Debug) (which is from Jan 28 2022) installed but I 'm confused about what version I should be on i.e. what is the latest version. I try to check for the latest version by using the 'Check for Updates' option from the game menu but it fails with:
Error: Update information for World in Flames could not be download
I can't find any other versions on the Matrix website. I can see in the forum a download for version 5 but it states you must install version 4.4.2 first. Please help.

5.0.0.1 is the latest version. If you have 4.4.1.0 installed, you can install 5.0.0.1 in regular MWIF folder, you don't need 4.4.2 first

And, AFAIK, there has not been (public) 4.4.2 version, only 4.4.1 which most surely is later than 4.02.
Note that to use this Hot Patch you have to have installed the Public Beta 04.02.00.00.
That is why you wouldn't need 4.02 if you have 4.4.1, at least I didn't. The versions use to be comprehensive of the previous ones.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it's actually a good question!
I am on 3.02 and when I run the MWIF-updater it says I already have the latest version...

I recommend to update to 5.0.0.1 . I see no disadvantages for you in updating.

I think the question is: what version should we be on if we run the MWIF-updater?
Small correction: I have installed the 4.4.1 (debug) version, which I stopped playing because it kept crashing when I tried to restore a savegame. So I rolled back to use the 3.02.exe with the 4.4.1 version installed (rkr wrote a post somewhere on how to do that)
So, if I want to upgrade to 5.0.0.1 how do I do that since the updater says I already have the latest version?

Rename the current mwif.exe to e.g. 441mwif.exe . This way you can still work on 4.4.1.0 files.
Unzip 5.0.0.1 into the mwif folder, overwriting existing files.

Do not forget to follow all the instructions on 5.00.00.10, this time you need to copy some file (apart from AI ones) that might bring you problems. It seems it it did to my opponent when we upgraded. I followed thw steps and everything went fine as for the upgrade installation itself. Same happened to him when he did it properly, afterwards.
