Okay, the Axis set up an AS mission and hit gold as the Soviets perform an unescorted bombing raid in the sector

- T9 SoT air question 1.png (4.14 MiB) Viewed 1271 times
Our scout fighters spot the raid 40 miles out. Okay, these are flying at 14k feet and the sneaky raiders at 1k feet but they are rumbled

- T9 SoT we spot the bombing run.png (2.91 MiB) Viewed 1271 times
and the raid is spotted and an associated air combat is triggered

- T9 SoTwe spot the bombing run and fighter intercept 13k ft too high.png (2.99 MiB) Viewed 1271 times
24 planes are scrambled, this looks promising but our fighters blithely ignore the reports of the raiders flying at 1k altitude and follow orders by flying at 14k feet. As a result nothing happens!
Not only do you seem to have to anticipate the off chance of where the enemy may be flying, but you also seem to have to anticipate the altitude that they are flying at...
Am I the only one who thinks that this is just nuts?
What can I do?

I have always tried to help people, even my opponents and replied to his email request.
We are up to turn 9, although I have been extremely slow in getting back a couple of turns due to real life events & Jasonbroomer threatening everywhere. Jasonbroomer should have a good write-up since I "will not" be posting an AAR on my side of things on the Matrix Forums at the moment.

HYLA,
I agree with that policy. Many years ago, I used to play H2H over a modem. Yes, I said many years ago.
People used to think providing help was giving up trade secrets. But actually, I find helping others a fantastic way to improve:
* To teach someone, you got to really understand what you are doing and why it works.
* If you show your opponents what is going on. Then, you are forced to continuously innovate and get better.
Additionally, no one likes to lose. You take a lot of sting out of loss (I used to compete on ladders) by sharing to make the loser a better player ultimately. I gave up online play, because for some it was more about ego than playing the game.

That was SGD. He's TDY on fatherhood at the moment. And he thought doing videos kept him from sleeping!
Those 4 and the rest of the tutorial video series; worth watching is here:

Thanks once again to HLYA.
I have experimented with AS at multiple altitudes. It is easy to set up and suffers surprisingly few opps losses. Let's see if Rom fighter get massacred by Soviet bombers...

I remember the idea of altitude staggering was applied in some other GG game. Either WITP-AE or EDBTR and players saw good results. I cannot which one it was now.

He may come back at some future date, but I doubt it. He basically set out to explain how a new player played a new game and in the process came out with some informative videos. Some info was a demo of what not to do, but in fairness it was his first playthrough. Now that the game has been out for a while, it really isn't as informative. He basically dropped out without a word of explanation to his viewership, which was very unfortunate. People can give him a free pass on the parent thing, but one would think after this many months he could have put out a 3-5 minute video to tie things up at least.

I miss my almost daily Dojo fix (along with you and the regular gang). Dojo was great but trying to annoy Nordhammer was even better

. A tying things up video would be nice, but I never expected him to come back for quite some time if at all. Agree that his game playing is outdated by now but give him credit Dojo coined "It's always dangerous in East Kiev" well before it actually was always dangerous in East Kiev. Miss those impromptu sayings and 80s & 90s pop culture references.

I only found out about the fatherhood thing when I went over to his Discord one day.
Speaking of English idioms, "You get what you paid for". Dojo's help was a bargain at no charge. We have seen businesses do far worse to paying customers. I only have praise for him. Also, you don't end up quitting your day job doing WITE-2 videos ... City Skylines yes, but not a niche title like this. If you make videos about a title like this, it is pure altruism.
Agreed. In hind sight, 15-20% of his tips were off, but for the absolute GG noob he did a great job of giving you the lay of the land.
