Allied Units in North Africa

It takes a long time to test so asking this question to those who have experienced what happens. The question is:

What happens to UK units in French North Africa when France surrenders or when Vichy France is declared?

Also from the one game we have completed it appears that invading the ports on the Atlantic in Morocco is not a good idea as it is so difficult to advance east along the coast considering all the mountainous terrain.

Any replies or comments would be much appreciated.

Unsure about Vichy, I don't park UK units there.

North Africa is all about the ports, for supply. So minimum is to invade one size 7 port.

Units are teleported to the closest controlled hex.
If that isn't possible they go on the production queue.

If I remember correctly. It's been a while since I answered this quesiton

DO NOT leave units in Vichy...Not even sure why any would be moved there.

I can see it possible that there might be a unit in Syria but not in FNA...not sure why they would even be there.

Perhaps you can help me understand why they are there?

My guess would be you want more French troops to slow the Germans...
Over all not worth it.

If a UK unit is in FNA, IF I remember it is gone for like 3 or 4 months.

I ONLY did this once...
