When Matrix originally annouced they would be publishing Korsun Pocket, there was talk that it would include the additional scenarios of TAO3, Panzergruppe Guderian, and (I think?) Malta. I gather the game is now only going to include KP and TAO3. Any hope the Panzergruppe Guderian scenario will appear sometime in the future?

I have no idea what you are talking about The game we are testing has several Korsun scenarios and a single Ardennes campaign. What is this 'PGG'?

Panzergruppe Gauderian and Malta will not be part of the KP Release.. nor will all of the original TAO2 scenarios.

I think the fanbase community will take care of converting the TAO2 scenarios over to TAO3/KP. Infact Chris Merchant has already made a bit of a start.

SSG are planning further releases under the Decisive Battles of World War II banner... which may or may not see the two battles you have mentioned being released.

I dont know how much should be said about future releases here though.. (I dont know if Matrix will be publishing them, so it may not be fair to discuss it here - plus SSG havent really made any firm announcements about anything yet)

Panzergruppe Guderian is the name of one of the all-time great board wargames released by SPI in the late 70's and re-released by AH in the early 80's. It covers the Battle of Smolensk in the summer of 1941. If you've never heard of it, you don't deserve to call yourself a wargamer.

It is not that I hadn't heard of PGG, I meant only in the KP arena. I see now that Peter spoke of this stuff as you say eons ago. Well done to dig that up.

Hey Kent, well done also. I happen to be one of those SPI dinosaurs. I actually have a copy of the game. It is a cool scenario.

You have a copy of that game.. wow.. do you have the box and or manual.. can you tell who programmed the game?

Sorry, my copy of this game dates back to the time before computer games. This is a real paper map board game. I can supply you with info about the designers. Didn't mean to mislead.

Apropos Noting, I have the 'old style' Gamers' Guderian's Blitzkreig II, which covers the battle for Moscow 1941- 1943. It is excellent fun, what I need to distract me from the eternal wait for Korsun Pocket.

"lurking status off"....... Actually have a game of that setup as we speak, the AH version.
Got it years ago, still a hoot.

I think SSG had one of their own games Panzer Battles based in that setting as well didn't they?

Bit of wargaming history trivia........AH did a computer version of PGG in the mid- to late-80s. I remember playing it on my Atari 800XL. It was one of their better computer efforts (i.e., it wasn't a complete disaster) that captured the feel of the boardgame pretty well. After a few play throughs as the rampaging Germans you realized the AI wasn't that challenging though. Playing the Russians was challenging for a couple of rounds until you realized the AI was programmed to take the objectives in a rigid sequence and you could just glom all the Russians at an early objective and not bother to guard Smolensk. I believe there was only the one scenario, so interest waned.
