hi I am on v1.05 build 1307 playing Caribbean fury 1. when I select my fighter and then I shift + right clink on the target my only options are engage with (and no sub menu appears with further options) and my other choice is intercept which turns the contact hostile and I am just looking for the investigate option.

thanks,
scott

Hello,

Thanks for the report.
Intercept/investigate are the same thing here.
the intercept/investigate (named "intercept" in the ui ) works, the investigating unit will go to the contact until having a good ID on it.

A bogey will often be designated as neutral since there is no clear ID, and may turn hostile thereafter if its side is determined to be hostile.

Also a batch of fixes and tweaks is ready for the next update. You may have stumbled into a bug that caused the shift+RMB to make units perform altogether all listed actions. Let us know if the next update fixes it.

mmm no that's not what happens actually as when right clicking on unkown contact ( yellow ) and clicking intercept just make the contact red instantly ( hostile ) within half a second without even moving yet

Can you please re-write this in English? Thanks.

Sorry it's not my first language but I think OP already maybe described it better, and it's simple really but I will explain it further because I wish this was in the game :

1- There is no "Investigate" option as said in manual while shift-right clicking on contacts.
2- "Intercept" option automatically and instantly turns any "unkown" contact to "hostile" as if it's an auto attack option.
3- "Attack with" option also don't work for me/sometimes don't even appear as it always displays "no suitable weapon to engage" not sure if this is because of contact/hostile outside weapon range or another thing.

I hope now the picture is clear

Update : it seems this happens only when using air fighter units against unkown air contacts ( mainly in air warfare tutorials ), but when using a ship or helicopters and pressing shift+right click on contacts choosing intercept seems to keep it yellow ( neutral ) and they get close to identify without changing contact status until 100% positive.

Will continue to test submarines and other scenarios for 100% confirmation and sorry if my English is not up to bar.

Hello kmsheesh, and thanks for clarifying,

I have performed some tests and got the situation you describe, somewhat.
The unknown contact (a ship) in my test was marked as hostile as soon as it delivered 2 SAMs to the investigating aircraft, as a welcome gift. An action quite unequivocally hostile.

Unless I am missing something else, this is WAD.

hi Geoffropi , I think that is the normal reaction for an unkown hostile contact and also unkown contact turning to hostile after shooting is very normal as well. what I meant was when selecting an f-35 for example and clicking from very far with shift+right click on an unkown bogey or air contact and choosing ( intercept ) it turns to red instantly without investigating or getting close to it first to identify, like exactly when pressing f1 for example ( auto engage ) on a yellow unkown contact it turns to hostile instantly. but this doesn't seems to be the case when using surface units like a ship or it's helicopter as intercept option is working as intended here on unkown skunk or goblin and contacts stays yellow while getting close to it for identification until it's positive a civilian/non-hostile or hostile. also just tried the intercept option while using air fighter ( f-35 f-16 etc ) on unkown skunk ( ship ) it still keeps it on yellow while getting close to identify, so this seems to happen only when using air fighters vs unkown bogey or air contacts.

Update after using build 1328.11:

Same everything except that now the air fighters ( f-35 f-16 whatever ) don't react to intercept when it's against surface ships, they totally ignore the order and act like unassigned ( status remains unassigned as before the intercept order given). before they would actually go to a skunk and investigate using the intercept option. I will upload the save game for better examples.

using this save :
1- av-8b harrier II would ignore intercept option against any skunk and would declare any unkown bogey or unspecified air contact as hostile instantly using the intercept and for example when applied to the near helo to the south.
2- p-3b Orion (221 escuadron #1) would actually go and investigate skunk contacts normally and would keep it yellow until proven otherwise, also against air contacts it would keep them yellow and actually go to them and investigate( the intended use for intercept option) which is the opposite to the harrier for example which is strange.

This problem seems to only happen when using groups like a group of 2 fighters or 2 ships for example. this group would declare instantly anything unkown to hostile when shift+right clicking intercept on them, while when using units individually they would actually investigate normally as intended without turning unkown contacts to hostile instantly. the only exception is as said in the previous save example is that sometimes group of 2 air fighters ( the harrier ) would ignore the intercept order against a skunk, while if I changed to unit view and selected one of the 2 harriers and ordered it to intercept a skunk they both would turn into it's direction to investigate normally also without turning them to hostile immediately.
