crash causes computer reboot

Hello, I bought the game today, but have not been able to complete the first turn due to a device crash that reboots my computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but same results. Then I tried the steam version with the same results.
This sounds like a problem on my end, but I thought I would check if you have heard of this problem.
I'm not sure what to do. My specs are well above the game requirements.
Thanks

That is very strange indeed... do you see an error message before the crash?

Is there also possibly an ERROR folder that has been created in your USER path for the game, typically the following:

\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command - American Civil War

The other thing I can suggest is to see if your anti virus software might be getting in the way if it is possibly protecting the Documents folder from changes. It's a longshot, but seems as though this is causing some problems on some PCs.

Well, after checking those tips and not finding anything, I fired up the game and have been able to run it problem free for several hours! I am pleased and baffled at the same time. I guess I'll never know what the problem was, but I'm glad it is working.
Thank you for your prompt response and tips.
Thanks for another fine game.

edit: It's happening again. bummer

Hello, I'm still having the problem of crashing and rebooting the computer. I keep getting the error message "clock watchdog timeout". Has anyone heard of this problem or have any idea what is happening. I have all the other games and they run fine.
Thanks

Very strange and never heard of that particular error before, I did a search for it, and sounds like an Operating System error of some kind...

A CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error is a Windows Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). It means:

One of your CPU cores stopped responding to system interrupts, and Windows waited too long for it to “check in.”

In plain terms: a processor thread got stuck.

Not sure if that helps, but that is what I found.

Thanks for the response. It is strange because all the other SC games run fine. Well, thanks again for looking into it.
