Initialising Air Units?

Is this still a requirement using the new editor? I can see it remains in the old editor but I can't see it in the new one (maybe I'm blind 
). It looks like it since adding air units and assigning them to AoGs isn't reflected in the scenario on load up - ie the units exist but don't appear in the relevant AoG.
