Japanese supplies

Playing my first game as Japan (been playing this game since it first came out but only as the Allies) and also my first PBEM. What is the trick to ensure there are enough supply points to go around? I increased some light industry but Japan proper isn't creating the supplies needed to keep China and the islands supplied. I have oil, fuel, and resources aplenty but can't make enough supply...

What is using your supplies really fast is your industrial expansion, including your aircraft factories and engine factories. Once those are done, your supply needs should decrease.

Ah! So its not just the initial expansion request that requires supply, but the continued building until the "repair" / expansion is complete? Now that explains alot.

It takes 1,000 supplies to build or repair, not just the initial outlay.
For more supplies, it is cheaper to build Heavy Industry even though it uses fuel.

Besides the 100 supply per point of industrial expansion, many of your units will need to fill out their TOE. That takes supply, unless you set them on "no replacements".
Battles also use a lot of supply. Manage them carefully - don't seek battle unless you are sure more supply can come in soon after.

Thank you all. As Allies you usually didn't have to worry about this stuff, well cause you don't have control of the industry plus supply points seem to be plentiful.

That is true about 3 or 4 months in, but at game start the Allies are worse off than the Japanese and they have to move their supply thousands of miles compared to hundreds for Japan.
Most of the Allied shipping is in the wrong place to get supply too!
